KIVA - enables you to loan money (as little as $25 through paypal) to a specific entrepeneur in a developing country - empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty.
ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD - provide a child in a developing country with a laptop that is connected to the web, durable and can be used in an outside classroom.

THE HUNGER PROJECT - empowering women and men to end their own hunger.
PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT - rallies the people of San Francisco to support and create lasting solutions for its homeless. Every other month, volunteers help the homeless find a number of solutions and services brought together under one roof. This is a national best practices model, now mirrored by over 200 cities in the US and throughout the world and was begun and supported by Mayor Gavin Newson.
Literary Themes
826 Valencia - a San Francisco organization that helps children (6-18) improve their writing skills and to help teachers get their students excited about literacy.
First Book - a non profit that donates books to young children to encourage them to read and be literate.
